2004 can truly be described as Annus Horribulus, a year when we lost some of our greatest Gaels. These people occupied unique positions in our club and will never be replaced. Stephen Healy played senior hurling with Ardrahan in 1926, Brian Geoghegan was a minor 1998. In between, Peter Linnane, Michael Tarpey and Michael Hehir were deprived of county medals in 1956, while Eamonn Linnane had the honour of scoring the winning goal in the county final of 1949. John Lowry Murray distinguished himself for both Ardrahan and Galway. The great Tomo McInerney gone from our midst and was there ever ever a supporter like Bridgie Hehir? Years ahead of her time, her enthusiasm was infectious– How she loved the “Blues”, if there was an All Star award for supporters this lady would be the record holder. God be with them all.
